- Nice holidays

Here are a few pictures of my little week in Nice (little as holiday are always too short). After a long and cold winter and no spring in London it was nearly vital to go to see the sun, the sea, feel the heat and listen to the cicadas sing. It was a short but very good break, I hope that reading this will make you to travel, at least for a few minutes.

These pictures are a concentrate of the old town of Nice. Places I like to go, where you have to go, like ‘l’Estrilha’ and the ‘Bar des Oiseaux’, institutions in Nice. Obviously going to the ‘Marché aux Fleurs’ and drink a macchiato at the ‘Café des Fleurs’ ‘s terrace. Buy some courgettes ‘from Nice’ et courgettes flower to make some fritters.

Also watch Térésa selling her socca. She doesn’t make the best in town but you have to go at least for the show. The socca is a mix of cheek peas flour, water and olive oil, cooked in a wooden oven. We eat it in paper with salt and peper. Nothing has changed for 50 years (neither she has by the way), her employee still brings the big plate of socca when it is ready, with his moped. My mum knows Térésa since she is a child, as well as her employee who still has the same moped.

Get lost in the alleys and at night, eat my father’s fish soup… The best in the world… He doesn’t have any restaurant unfortunately but if he wants to give me all his secrets, it may that one day I will give you the recipe…
